Abstract

The research aims to identify the effect using of brainstorming strategy in acquiring some offensive handball skills. The researchers used the experimental approach as it is the appropriate approach to the nature of research, through experimental design with two groups, one experimental and the other control group using the post measurement for both groups. The sample of research consisted of (36) students selected from among the students of the second year in the college of Physical Education / University of Dohuk for the academic year 2016 - 2017. They were divided randomly by the toss into two groups of (18) students for each group after excluding a number of the research community. The teaching strategy (brainstorming and classical method) has been distributed randomly by the toss to the two research groups. the equivalent for both groups was checked for the variables like age, height, weight, intelligence and some physical characteristics agreed by the specialists. The research procedures included designing a form to measure the level of skill performance of the two research groups for some offensive skills to determine the degree of each stage of skill performance according to the virtual motor structure. The total score for each skill is 10 degrees. The duration of implementation for the educational program took 10 actual weeks, during which the educational units were distributed with two teaching units per week for each group. The period of the educational unit was 90 minutes. The study found out that there were statistically significant differences at (0.05) between the means of both groups experimental group and control group in acquiring skills (side push pass, pass above the shoulder level, dribble, shooting  forward from jumping, shooting forward from falling) experimental group those taught by brainstorming strategy showed more improvement than the control group.
