التأثير التربوي و الثقافي لغزو داعش على مدينة شنكال 2014-2015

Abstract

The Islamic State Organization in 2014 committed large-scale violations against International
Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian Law in Iraq and Syria. ISIS’s violations
mount to war crimes and crimes against humanity by targeting social and ethnic groups of Iraqi
community and particularly against Yazdies on August, 3rd, 2014. They committed mass killings,
abducted thousands of civilians and raped women, recruited children, and destroyed religious
structures and Yazidy cultural heritage.
The ISIS attack had a huge impact on different aspects of life in Sinjar including the spiritual
aspect in terms of killing, abduction, and captivity of Yazidies. The educational and cultural
aspects were equally impacted, compared to other aspects. It can be said that ISIS had a full-
scale influence on the educational and cultural aspects in the past few years after their
onslaught. The number of people in the education sector has reduced in half, not to mention the
deteriorated psychological state of the people working in the education and culture sectors.
Culturally speaking, it can be said that ISIS ended all cultural activities in the years after their
attack on Sinjar. Therefore, the impact and harm inflicted by ISIS to the educational and
cultural aspects of life are tremendously reflected in the psychology of Yazidy individuals from
Sinjar; the thing which can have an adverse impact on the behavior and education of the next
generations of Yazidy community.
